Esports

What is esports?

Esports is a video game-based sport, most commonly taking the form of a collaborative, organized multiplayer competition. Games are played upon high-powered gaming computers, with games from many genres, including real-time strategy, fighting, first-person shooter (FPS), and multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA). The number of players per team is typically dictated by the game being played.

Got game? We’re looking for gamers!

Marion Technical College is launching esports teams for the 2019 fall semester and seeking new and returning students interested in joining one or more of our three game-based teams: League of Legends, Overwatch, and Rocket League. We’ve partnered with NACE, the National Association of Collegiate Esports, to build a competitive and exciting program in which players will compete with other schools and teams in the region. Both male and female students can join a team. Tryouts will be held for MTC’s Esports Teams (date to be determined) and will be open for all qualified students who will be enrolled in the 2019 fall semester. Please check back to this page for future updates and tryout schedules.
