You’re not alone.  Seeking help is not only normal, but an expected part of the learning process in college. Many students who use tutoring are strong students who simply want to understand their material better or improve their study strategies.  Tutors work with students at all levels—from those building foundational skills to those preparing for competitive programs.A good first step is to connect with your instructor if you haven’t already. They’re the best resource for clarification and guidance on specific topics or assignments.After that, you have options!

Meet with an MTC Tutor

  • Schedule a tutor for a virtual or in-person one-on-one tutoring appointment.
  • MTC tutors can help you understand course concepts, review material, and develop effective learning strategies.

Get Help Anytime with Brainfuse

  • Brainfuse is MTC’s online, on-demand tutoring platform that provides 24/7 help in most subjects.
  • Access it through the appropriate Brightspace course via the “Brainfuse Online Tutoring” link in the top blue menu bar.

Visit the OSU Marion Academic Support Center

  • The Academic Support Center offers in-person drop-in tutoring for a variety of math and science courses, as well as writing assistance.
  • Located on the second floor of the library.

Courses with enhanced support

Some courses have additional resources to help students succeed.  Information, including term schedules and links, is available through your course’s Brightspace page.

  • Statistics: Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions are professionally facilitated voluntary study groups. focused on collaborative learning, study strategies, and content review. Research shows that students who attend SI sessions consistently earn up to a full letter grade higher than their peers.  Both virtual and in-person sessions are available.
  • College Algebra: Virtual drop-in tutoring with MTC tutors is available via Zoom.
  • Anatomy & Physiology (A&P): Tutors embedded in A&P classes hold weekly in-person office hours in Bryson 194.
  • Engineering courses: Tutors embedded in select Engineering classes hold weekly in-person office hours in Bryson 194.
