About MTC tutors

MTC tutors support students in a variety of subjects and academic skills, including math, science, writing, and study strategies. Many have years of teaching or academic support experience and enjoy working one-on-one with students to build understanding, confidence, and effective learning strategies.  Whether you’re working through a challenging concept, preparing for an exam, or developing better study habits, our tutors are here to help!

Become an MTC tutor

You know that look — the 'I am totally lost' stare. You’ve worn it before. Now you can help someone else find their their way.

Working as a tutor is a rewarding way to support students while strengthening your own knowledge and communication skills. MTC tutors help students build understanding, confidence, and effective learning strategies across a variety of subjects.

We are looking for tutors who are:

  • Strong in the subjects they support (An B or above course average is typically sufficient—no perfection is required)
  • Patient and encouraging when explaining concepts
  • Good listeners
  • Clear communicators
  • Comfortable working with students from diverse backgrounds
  • Interested in helping others build confidence and independence

Why become a tutor?

  • Earn income: $15–$22 per hour, depending on degree and experience

How to apply

  • MTC students: Email tutoring@mtc.edu for an application and instructions.
  • Non-MTC student applicants: Apply online. Please upload unofficial transcripts and 3 references as Additional Documents.
