Stem Grant Repository - Resources and Scholarships

Common Skill Gaps / Pain Points

As a STEM student, you will likely encounter courses such as Anatomy & Physiology (A&P), Statistics, Chemistry, Physics, and other foundational STEM classes. These are often called gateway courses because they provide knowledge and skills necessary for success in advanced coursework and future STEM careers. Depending on which STEM pathway you take, different STEM gateway courses must be taken and passed by STEM majors.

Gateway courses are designed to challenge students and build a strong academic foundation. Because of their rigor, many students find these classes difficult at some point in their educational journey. Struggling in a gateway course is common and does not mean you do not belong in STEM.

Our goal is to help you navigate these challenges successfully and stay on track toward your academic and career goals. We do not want a single course or academic obstacle to become a barrier to your future. Instead, we want to connect you with the tools, resources, and support systems that can help you build confidence, strengthen your understanding, and continue progressing on your STEM pathway.

Remember: asking for help is a sign of determination, not weakness. Many successful STEM professionals have faced challenges in these same courses.
