Fatma Salem, Ph.D.

Biography

Fatma Salem is a Chemistry faculty member at Marion Technical College. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Bioanalytical Chemistry from Cleveland State University in December 2025, where she also earned an M.S. in Chemistry.

Her research background is in clinical bioanalytical chemistry, chemical biology, and drug discovery, with research experience involving cancer and infectious diseases. Her work has included mass spectrometry, small-molecule synthesis, cell-based assays, and biological evaluation.

Before joining MTC, Fatma gained teaching experience at Cleveland State University, where she taught and supported students in general, organic, and analytical chemistry courses and was recognized for excellence in teaching. She is passionate about creating an engaging and supportive learning environment and helping students develop the chemistry knowledge and problem-solving skills they need for further study and careers in science, medicine, engineering, and other STEM fields.
