Marion Tech Lands $32,000 for Scholarships at Golf Outing
Thanks to generous local supporters, Marion Technical College landed on the green after the second annual MTC Foundation Scholarships Golf Outing sponsored by Fahey Bank. The sold-out event at Kings Mill Golf Course in Waldo on May 25 scored more than $32,000 for student scholarships.
Fahey Bank was proud to be the presenting sponsor for the MTC Foundation Golf Scramble.
“This is an investment in our community, our students, and our future,” declared Jon Ferguson, Vice President of Fahey Bank and member of the Marion Tech Foundation Board of Directors. “This was a great event for a worthy cause. Fahey Bank is proud to be a part of it!”
In addition to Fahey Bank’s support, Marion Tech would like to thank Silver Sponsor OhioHealth; Bronze Sponsors Fogle Farms, Sisler Company, Pillar Credit Union, Whirlpool Corporation, Stifel, Airable Research Lab, Poet Biorefining, United Church Homes, Dinsmore and GP Properties LLC.
Mike Stuckey, director of the Marion Tech Foundation, thanks the sponsors and the golfers for scoring a win for students.
Andy Harper, president of the Marion Tech Foundation Board, was thrilled to see the golfers hit the links.
“A small investment in local students pays huge dividends,” Harper said. “With an average student age of 27, many of whom are working parents trying to get ahead, a little scholarship money goes a long way to help them get to next.”
This builds on the first golf event in 2022, which raised $20,000. The proceeds were used as matching funds to raise another $20,000 and create four new scholarship funds: the Donna Day Scholarship Fund, Dr. Bob Haas and Chris Haas Scholarship Fund, the McCall Family Scholarship Fund, and the Mary L. and John I. Broadman Scholarship Fund. The Foundation Board again plans to use the proceeds as matching funds again to create six new scholarship funds.
“These funds change lives,” Stuckey said. “With an already affordable tuition of just $5,500 a year, these scholarships help reduce the costs and get students to that new career or promotion. More than 90% of our students continue to live and work locally after they graduate, so the entire community benefits.”
