Testing and Tutoring

Some programs and certifications require specific exams such as the ACT, USA, and other standardized tests. Be sure to check your program’s requirements or talk to your advisor to see which tests may apply to you.

For questions or more information about any of these exams, call the Testing Center 740-389-4636 ext. 1193 or email.

ACT Testing

Some limited enrollment programs at MTC require or recommend ACT scores as part of the admission process.  Talk to your advisor to find out if you need to take the ACT.

National ACT

MTC strongly recommends taking the National ACT because:

  • Scores are transferable to other colleges
  • It is offered throughout the year, typically in September, October, December, February, April, June, and July
  • If you take the computer-based ACT without the optional Writing or Science sections, your test will be shorter, cost less, and your scores will be available sooner.

Registration deadlines are typically one month before the test date.  Visit the ACT website for information on dates, registration, and policies.

If you require accommodations, contact Disability Services well in advance for assistance.  Only certain test sites and dates offer accommodations.

On-Campus ACT

MTC administers two On-Campus ACT tests only during the summer.  This is a local version of the ACT that is not transferable to other institutions. It can only be used for placement or program admission at MTC.

Students must register and pay for the On-Campus ACT in advance.  Registration information is announced in the spring.

If you require accommodations, contact Disability Services before registering to ensure ample time to make arrangements.

ACT Preparation

There are a number of ways to prepare for the ACT. Visit the ACT website for various options.  You may also choose to make an Academic Consultation appointment for personalized assistance in preparing for the ACT.

USA Testing

The USA is required for admission to MTC’s Sonography program. This exam is designed to measure natural abilities that are important for a career in sonography, such as coordination, spatial awareness, judgment, problem solving, and logical thinking. This is not a test you can study for— just do your best.

To register:

  • Confirm with your advisor that you are ready to take this test.
  • Visit the MTC Business Office to pay the $65 testing fee and receive a receipt.
  • Bring your photo ID and receipt to the Testing Office to schedule your exam.

TEAS and RN Fundamentals Testing

Applicants to the MTC Nursing Program may opt to take either the TEAS test or the RN Fundamentals test as part of their application package. These tests can be administered either in person or remotely with appropriate technology. In person exams are administered in the Testing Center in Bryson Hall, room 193.

Please note:

  • You must be a currently enrolled student to take either of these exams in person at MTC.
  • Exams are only administered during the weekdays; unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate weeknight or weekend appointments.
  • As of July 2025, the TEAS exam costs $70; the RN Fundamentals exam costs $48.  Fees can only be paid with a credit or debit card directly to ATI at the time of administration; no cash or check will be accepted.

To schedule an appointment or for more information, email testing@mtc.edu or call 740.389.4636 x1193

For preparation resources for either of these tests, visit the ATI website.
