Read and Write Software

Marion Technical College recognizes the importance for all students (and Faculty/Staff) to access their course and work materials.  One tool that MTC offers for all members of the campus (students, faculty, and staff) is Read & Write.

Read&Write software lets everyone read, write and express themselves more confidently. The easy-to-use toolbar makes documents, files and web pages more accessible. And its friendly literacy features help English Language Learners, as well as people who ‘read’ better by hearing the text aloud or who may have a learning disability. It can read aloud your open access textbooks and documents posted by your faculty.

This tool is available for free to our registered students and all the MTC faculty and students.  It can be loaded on Android, iOS, Mac, PC, and Chrome devices. Included in the toolbar are tools to help read PDFs aloud, highlight text materials, a dictionary that will read the definition aloud, word prediction to assist with writing papers, reading Word and Email documents aloud, even a tool to scan a print or electronic document that is not accessible and to create an accessible version of it that the computer will read out loud.
