Marion Technical College Sees Third Year of Record Enrollment

Record Enrollment
September 01, 2025

For six straight semesters, Marion Technical College has seen record enrollment. As of the first day of the Fall Semester, Marion Tech enrolled 3,806 students for the first time in its 55-year history.

“Students are ready to get ahead, and Marion Tech has flexible options for in-demand programs,” said Dr. Amy Adams, executive vice president at the college. “In this competitive labor market, we serve a variety of students, including high school and adult students. With options from Micro-certificates to the Bachelor of Science in nursing program, there are more ways than ever to get to your next goal.”

Marion Tech is offering a new early childhood education program, a massage therapist certificate, and was recently awarded National Science Foundation grants to incorporate and educate the community about artificial intelligence (AI) and integrate it into the IT programs. Marion Tech, as a part of the rural guided pathways initiative, has also moved most classes to an 8-week format to help students earn credits faster and focus on fewer classes at once.

“Time is money. Our students can earn a certificate in just a few classes, complete a degree in two years, or even transfer into a bachelor’s program with years of credit already in place,” Adams said. “No matter which path they choose, it’s about building real skills for real jobs that pay well.”

Marion Tech continues to offer a strong value. Full-time tuition is about $6,000 a year less than one-fifth of the cost of tuition, room, and board at a state university and a fraction of private university tuition. With Pell grants covering the full cost of tuition and additional scholarships, grants, and work-study opportunities, many students attend with little or no debt. The college also offers free Open Educational Resources, saving students millions on textbooks.

With numerous transfer partnerships, students can finish two or three years of their bachelor’s degree at Marion Tech before transferring, cutting the cost of a degree by half or more. Many universities also offer special scholarships and tuition discounts to Marion Tech graduates.

“Marion Tech is proof that you don’t have to go into debt to change your future,” Adams said. “In two years and for about $12,000, students can move into careers that pay $60,000 or more — and in fields like health care, they’re often seeing signing bonuses of $5,000 to $10,000 on top of that.”

Fall classes started today, with additional 8-week sessions beginning in October. For more information, visit our website @ mtc.edu, email us at enroll@mtc.edu, call us at (740) 389-4636, or schedule an appointment at visit.mtc.edu.
