Early Childhood Education
Overview
About the program
Earning Marion Tech’s Early Childhood Associate’s Degree provides a pathway to a number of careers. Graduates will be prepared to earn the CDA (Child Development Associate) credential - indicating a professional's competency in childcare. It's administered by the Council for Professional Recognition, and is recognized across the US. Earning a CDA can lead to career advancement and is a valuable step for those entering or growing in the field. Graduates also have the option to continue their education at a four-year partner college to earn a K-5 teaching license.
Transfer:
Currently in process. We are working with several 4 year partners that will provide successful graduates with a pathway to earn a K-5 teaching certification. Most general education courses transfer as a part of Ohio’s OT-36 transfer pathway.
Job Outlook:
There are approximately 700 jobs for pre-school / day care workers in the seven county area Marion Tech serves. The average annual wage is just over $33,000. Graduates who complete a 4 year degree and obtain K-5 teaching certification can expect to earn $50,000 - $65,000 per year.
