19Jul Record number of participants supported Marion Technical College Nursing Students at Annual 5K by Wendy Weichenthal (Marion) Marion Technical College nursing students reaped the benefits when a record number of participants took part in the sixth annual 5K fundraiser on June 29. Seventy-four people came to run, walk, and roll on the beautiful Marion Campus to raise a record $5,231 for study materials and the pinning ceremony. Congratulations to the winners! Stacie Campbell In the six years, walkers and runners have raised $23,000 for MTC nursing students. MTC’s nursing program has an excellent reputation and pass rate. Nursing graduates are in demand and the employment rate is growing much faster than other occupations, with 15% more job openings expected through 2026. According to Career Coach, the average salary in Marion and the surrounding counties is $62,875 per year. MTC’s cumulative pass rate on the national licensing (NCLEX) exam is 99%.
