Kathy Rice Director of Aspire Biography Kathy Rice is Marion Technical College’s Director of Aspire. A graduate of The Ohio State University, she was a substitute teacher in all six school districts in Marion County for three years, then joined Marion’s Private Industry Council, also known as Preparing Individuals for Careers, Inc. (PIC, Inc.) in 1984 as the program’s Adult Basic Education (ABE) instructor and administrator. Since 1994, Kathy has represented MTC through partnerships with area businesses and served students on campus in a variety of roles: coordinator of the Opportunity Center at MedCenter Hospital and Marion General Hospital; coordinator of the GOALS program at Whirlpool; instructor of general education math and English courses at MTC; tutor coordinator for the campus; Director of Student Support Programs which included the AmeriCorps College Completion Coach program on campus, the Comprehensive Case Management Employment Program (CCMEP) for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Youth–Funded Activities Services in Delaware County, oversight of all campus tutoring, and administrator of the Adult Basic and Literacy Education (ABLE) program, now known as Aspire.
