Criminal history checks will be required for all applicants for a new real estate license, including sales licensees seeking a broker license and reciprocity applicants, starting Nov. 1, 2019. Instructions for submitting fingerprints for a new license will be posted on the Department of Commerce website.
Four prep courses are required to become a licensed real estate salesperson in Ohio. We offer these courses online and you can complete all of them in one semester.
After completing the required courses, meeting contract hour requirements, and passing Ohio’s Real Estate Salesperson exam, you’ll be ready for a career in real estate as a sales agent, property manager, or title researcher.

If you complete the real estate prep courses and want to become a licensed real estate broker, you can continue on to our real estate option within the business management program. This program can be completed in two years with a full-time course schedule. Broker status is earned when you complete the degree, pass Ohio’s Real Estate Broker’s exam, and meet other requirements specified by the Ohio Board of Real Estate.
After completing the real estate option within our business management program, you’ll receive an Associate of Applied Business Degree.
