Nursing Requirements
- A minimum ACT composite score of 18.
Students with a bachelor degree will be awarded a 21 ACT for ranking purposes. Students with ACT composite scores between 18 and 20 must qualify for admission by completing required nursing program courses with 2 A’s, or 3 B’s, or 4 C’s (One C grade must be in a science) before the nursing program application may be submitted. Applicable courses must be part of the nursing curriculum, and a minimum of 4 credit hours.
- A minimum accumulative grade point average (AGPA) of 2.5 is required to apply for the nursing program. According to College policy, you must maintain a minimum 2.0 AGPA for continuing/completion of the program.
Students who have already applied and are admitted from the waiting list into Fall of 2010 to graduate in 2012 will not be required to comply with the new criteria. To date, there are only twenty (20) seats available in the Class of 2012, and over 100 wait-listed applicants.
ALL students applying for admission starting in Fall of 2011 (including those admitted from the 2010 waiting list) MUST meet the new criteria of minimum of 2.5 AGPA and 18 ACT. Advising services are also available to explore the many other health-related programs at MTC and alternatives in the nursing profession.
Returning students requesting readmission into the Class of 2013 (starting Fall of 2011) will also be required to meet the new criteria.
These changes come as a result of a study of nursing students over the last twelve years.
