Selection of Foundation, President's, and College Tech Prep Scholarship recipients will be made by high school officials and reported to MTC by May 1. Eligibility is certified after the student's first semester senior-year grades are posted. The number of scholarships awarded is limited, so it is important to apply early. These scholarships are limited to one per student.. Each scholarship is for one year and will be credited to the recipient's tuition charges each term of the academic year. In order to apply complete the special High School Senior Scholarship Application (return to HS guidance counselor) and FAFSA application prior to May 1.
Skills for Success (ASC1020 ) is a one credit hour course designed to dissect the ''learning process'' for college-bound individuals. The course combines lecture materials with fun activities, team projects, and individual assignments that illustrate how people learn and what skills and resources are available to them. Students learn strategies for managing time; setting and achieving goals; improving memory and reading comprehension; strengthening note taking and general study skills; and becoming better test takers.
Orientation to College Scholarship
Orientation to College (ASC 1000) is a one credit course designed to prepare you for a successful college experience. You will learn how use technology to access information and course materials, develop an educational success plan, and explore various college services, including financial aid and academic advising. A special emphasis will be placed on “financial literacy” and college/career choice. A scholarship is available for freshman MTC students to cover the tuition cost of the course. The American Opportunity Tax Credit is a tax credit available to eligible students during their first four years of postsecondary education. The tax credit may be taken for up to $2,500 of tuition and fees that the student (independent student) or student's parents (for a dependent student) pay. 100% of the first $2000 paid is eligible followed by 25% of the next $2000 paid.
