Acceptable Use/Unacceptable Use:
Generally, the services (Blackboard and e-mail) are to be used by MTC students for communication regarding MTC. Following are examples of acceptable uses for students who access the services:
- Communicate with an instructor
- Communicate with another class member regarding class material or content
- Communicate with the financial records office, the department dean, the job placement office, or other college-related student services
- Complete coursework or assignments
The services are not to be used for commercial purposes, harassing activities, sending bulk mail, sending jokes, sending or forwarding viruses or virus hoaxes, sending unwanted or unsolicited e-mail, sharing files, violating copyrights, or other communications not directly related to the educational purposes of MTC.
By logging on to the e-mail system, you are agreeing to follow the acceptable use standards listed above.
Student Responsibilities:
- Each student is responsible for checking his or her e-mail account on a regular basis, no less than twice per week.
- Each student is responsible for reporting problems accessing his or her e-mail account to a faculty member or to the system administrator.
- Each student is responsible for maintaining the e-mail account. Maintenance activities include replying to messages in a timely manner and deleting messages when appropriate.
- Each student is expected to report suspected abuse of the services to a faculty member, department dean or director, or the Blackboard system administrator.
System Specifications:
PC compatible computers should have the following recommended specifications: Pentium II or higher CPU, 5GB free hard drive space, 128MB RAM, SVGA video card and monitor, mouse, keyboard, Windows 98 or more recent O/S, IE 5.5 or higher.
MacIntosh systems must be running Mac OS 8 or higher, and IE 5.5 or higher.
PC and MAC systems must be connected to the Internet through a broadband or dial-up connection.
