Real Estate Sales Courses

Progam Curriculum | ASAP Schedule

The MTC Real Estate Sales courses offer an accelerated way for working adults to fit college into their busy lives. By attending class two evenings per week, students can complete courses required to take Ohio's Real Estate Salesperson exam in just 15 weeks. All four courses apply to the Business Management associate degree program.

Real estate salespersons help people realize the dream of owning a home, and play an important role in the development of local communities. MTC’s Real Estate Sales Courses offer individuals a fast-track to a real-estate career. Students who complete the courses will learn to work with a variety of people, including buyers and sellers, property managers, tax and title professionals, government agencies, and construction and inspection officials.

The Real Estate Sales courses prepare you to take the state licensed real estate salesperson exam. In order to earn this credential, the State of Ohio requires completing required coursework, meeting contact-hour requirements, and passing the appropriate exam.

What will it take to succeed?:

To be successful, you must make a personal commitment to attend all classes, work independently between class sessions, and complete all assignments in a timely manner.

Ohio House Bill 524 defines the pre-licensure requirements for those wishing to become salespersons. *To be eligible to take the Salesperson Examination, you must fulfill two requirements 1) Pass each course listed above; and 2) Meet the state’s contact hour attendance requirements. Class attendance is mandatory - students can miss only one class session for each course. Within one year after issuance of a Sales License, the licensee must complete a 10-hour post-licensure course covering current issues relating to consumers, real estate practice, ethics, and real estate law. This course may be completed at other institutions approved by the Ohio Real Estate Commission.

Will the Real Estate credits apply towards an Associate Degree?:

Students who earn MTC’s Real Estate Sales Courses, and wish to become a licensed real estate broker in the State of Ohio, may substitute the real estate course (12 credits) for BUS2100A Ethics, MGT2010A International Business, and the Technical Elective (MGT/MKT) toward an Associate of Applied Business Degree.

Marion Technical College’s Associate of Applied Business Management degree includes the coursework required to become a licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of Ohio.
