Student Activities & Recreation

Lack of recreation and "play" in a student's life creates problems -- decreased productivity and academic achievement, as well as increased absenteeism and levels of dissatisfaction -- so the Office of Student Activities & Recreation sponsors a system of microprogramming to best meet the needs of a diverse campus population.

Intramural Sports

volleyball, soccer, flag football, basketball, and 3-on-3 basketball

Special Events

cultural arts performances, dance classes, cookouts, aerobics programs, movie weeks and campus parties

General Services

game room with pool tables; weight room with free weights treadmill, rowing and ski machines, and bikes; indoor rock-climbing wall; lounge area; and open gym

Outdoor Pursuits

canoeing, whitewater rafting, downhill and cross country skiing and backpacking.  The Marion Campus is one of only a few in the entire State to offer a full complement of outdoor activities. Small groups "play" throughout the State - and West Virginia, Michigan, Minnesota and Colorado

Recreation Consulting and Trip Planning Service

utilizes sophisticated software to provide information packets, detailed maps, topographic mapping for hiking and cycling planning and other material for any student or staff member preparing for a trip or vacation

Wellness Center

sponsoring such services as an annual campus Wellness Fair, quarterly health checks, and individual fitness programs.

Student Clubs & Organizations

A variety of student clubs and organizations are available to Marion Technical College students, such as Beta Nu Phi (the MTC chapter of Phi Theta Kappa), Computer Club, and others.
