Enrollment Steps

STEP ONE – Begin the Financial Aid Process

Apply for federal financial aid first if you need financial assistance to attend college.  The form may take you 30-40 minutes.  Final results may take 3-4 weeks.  Start this process at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  More information is available here on our Financial Aid page.  Questions about your specific situation may be emailed to Hannah Hartman.


STEP TWO – Be Admitted To MTC

Have questions about degrees, certificates, or careers?  Schedule a phone appointment with an admissions representative HERE. Experienced staff is ready to help.

  • High School/Secondary School or GED Transcript

Call or email your current or former high school and request that your transcript is sent to MTC by mail or email at enroll@mtc.edu Your high school or GED transcript will be needed for the course registration process.

Unofficial copies may be used temporarily for admission during the COVID-9 outbreak. This includes copies that you may already have in your possession.

Official copies will be required for federal financial aid.  Financial aid will not be released to you until an official transcript is received. An official copy is one that is sent directly from school to school and was never issued to the student.

GED transcripts may be ordered from www.ged.com. This website will require that you create an account and charges a fee for your order.

International transcripts may be ordered HERE.

  • Acceptance Notification

A letter or email of your acceptance will be sent to you when your file is complete.  This will contain your MTC Student ID number.  Keep your ID number as it is used for your college username and email.

  • Advising Appointment

Congratulations on your acceptance! Request an advising appointment by email at advising@mtc.edu.  Advising staff will arrange a phone appointment with you to create your schedule.

  • Placement Testing

Some courses require placement testing before you can sign up for the course.  Your academic advisor will evaluate your needs and guide you accordingly. Recent high school grades, ACT, or SAT scores may be substituted for placement testing.

STEP ONE – Update Your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)

Update your current FAFSA with MTC’s school code 010736, or apply for federal financial aid first, if you need financial assistance to attend college.  The form may take you 30-40 minutes your first time.  Updating an existing FAFSA will take only minutes.  Final results may take 3-4 weeks.  Start this process at www.fafsa.ed.gov. STEP TWO – Be Admitted To MTC

  • Transcripts

Transcripts will be needed from both your former high school and previous college(s).

Call or email your former high school and request that your transcript is sent to MTC by mail or email to enroll@mtc.edu.

Request your previous college official transcript to be sent to MTC’s Registrar’s Office. Most colleges use online services for electronic delivery.  You will be notified when your college transcript has arrived, been evaluated, and transfer credit assigned.

NOTE: The high school transcript requirement may be waived for some degree programs if you have earned a bachelor’s degree.  Contact the admissions staff at enroll@mtc.edu with questions about this.

  • Apply

Submit the Returning Student form HERE.

Have questions about degrees, certificates, or careers?  Schedule a phone appointment with an admissions representative HERE. The experienced staff is ready to help.

  • Transcripts

Submit college transcripts if you have taken other college classes since last attending MTC.  Many colleges use online services to send transcripts electronically to our Registrar’s Office.  You will be notified when your college transcript has arrived, been evaluated, and credit assigned.

No action is needed here if you have not earned college credit elsewhere.


STEP THREE – Activate Your MTC Email

Upon notification that your account has been updated, reset your MTC password.

The Sixty Plus Program allows students aged 60 and older to attend classes tuition-free for non-credit.  Details are available on the Sixty Plus page.

Bring a Sixty Plus Application Form and your driver’s license to the admissions office to get started.  Admission staff can explain available courses and associated lab fees.
