College Tech Prep Programs
Allied Health
Students participating in College Tech Prep Allied Health programs study practical aspects of nursing as well as health system ethics and procedural aspects of health care. A successful Completer may qualify for up to 17 hours of credit from MTC and will be prepared to pass examinations for several state certifications.
Agri-Business
Students participating in College Tech Prep Agri-Business programs study plant, animal and environmental science. A successful Completer may qualify for 6 hours of credit from MTC.
Exercise Science
Students participating in College Tech Prep Exercise Science programs study aspects nursing and health care, both practical and procedural, and also learn to develop physical therapy plans and gain knowledge of fitness treatments. A successful completer may qualify for 1 hour of credit from MTC and is prepared to pass CPR state certification testing.
Financial Services
Students participating in College Tech Prep Financial Services programs study a wide range of business procedures including management, marketing and accounting. A successful Completer may qualify for 16 hours of credit from MTC.
Engineering Technologies
Students participating in College Tech Prep Engineering Technologies programs study many aspects of engineering technology including computer-aided drafting, project design, analysis and presentation, data collection, technical problem solving and general manufacturing processes including an introduction to robotics. A successful completer may qualify for 16 hours of credit from MTC.
Information Technologies
Students participating in College Tech Prep Information Technologies programs study computer programs and programming, database organization and maintenance and receive a brief overview of business practices. A successful Completer may qualify for 16 hours of credit from MTC.
Interactive Media
Students participating in College Tech Prep Interactive Media Technologies programs study digital design topics including digital photography, audio systems and web page design as well as general computer and data system topics and an overview of business operation basics and marketing theories. A successful Completer may qualify for 20 hours of credit from MTC.
Fast-Forward to Business
Students participating in the Fast Forward program study a variety of business and financial topics aimed at preparing them for business and financial management after graduation. This program not only offers qualifying Completers 16 hours of credit from MTC, but students also earn addition direct MTC credits through PSEO program affiliation. Fast Forward it is an excellent program for students who intend to run a small business or pursue a business management degree.
Teacher’s Academy
Students participating in the Teacher’s Academy program study the fundamentals of teacher education. Because this is a new, one-year program for high school seniors only, it is not formally in the College Tech Prep system and does not qualify for MTC credit at this time, however, it is an excellent program for students who intend to pursue degrees in the field of education. Plans are underway to expand this program and offer opportunities for participants to earn college credit.
