Dear Parents:
I'm the parent of a high school sophomore who is just beginning to look at college options. Has your mailbox started to overflow with brochures, fliers, and letters from colleges? If not, just wait! I'm sure you will be as overwhelmed as we are starting to feel!
It's so exciting for the kids...look at all the wonderful photos of students on campus ... hanging out, playing sports, studying ... all the colleges look wonderful. Every time something new comes in the mail, we hear "Look at this! Isn't that cool? Oh, I like this one. I wanna go here!"
Then, me being the "mean mom" that I am, I start asking questions: How much does it cost? What is their job placement rate? What kind of security do they have on campus? While my child doesn't think to look at these types of issues, I know all parents do. The order of the questions may be different, but we are all concerned about the same things in the long run.
If you look in the "Related Links" section at the top of this page, we have tried to provide you with information parents need to know. When you go through the MTC web site, you will find out that MTC is a good option for many reasons-
- MTC is a good bargain. Tuition is lower than that at four-year colleges and universities.
- The vast majority of MTC graduates find jobs in their field of study.
- Campus crime statistics show very little crime on campus.
- The Post-Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEO) program is a great option for high school students who want to start their college experience early.
- MTC courses are very transferable to four-year Ohio colleges and universities.
As you click through our Web site, if you think of other information that would be helpful that we should include in this section, please let us know.
Good luck as you help your child in their college search!
