ADVANCED PLACEMENT POLICY STATEMENT
(for high school A.P. courses and tests)
FOR STUDENTS/PARENTS
The State of Ohio, working through the University System of Ohio, has initiated policies to facilitate the ease of transition from high school to college and between and among Ohio’s Public colleges and universities. Since Marion Technical College is part of the University System, the new advanced placement policy will benefit all MTC students to which it applies.
As one element in the process, the State passed a policy to align the awarding of college credit for those successfully completing Advanced Placement (A.P.) courses and passing associated exams as a part of their high school curriculum. Beginning in the Fall of 2009, students obtaining an A.P. exam score of 3 or above will be granted college-level course credit in the appropriate academic area. Currently all Ohio public colleges and universities are identifying course matches for each Advanced Placement test where institutional coursework exists.
