Marion Technical College recently received state recognition from the Ohio College Access Network (OCAN). Marion Technical College was awarded the William Over College Access Collaboration Award at the Ohio College Access & Success Annual Conference in Columbus. The award was granted because of our “generous and efficient partnerships with local high schools” in providing opportunities for students to access college credits and explore career opportunities. The efforts include Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO), dual credit options, the Telecommunications program, and the Seniors to Sophomores program. The award presenter stated that “MTC continuously strives to meet the occupational needs of the area and their fully student-centered approach has garnered respect within the community.”
Thank you to Highland High School for nominating Marion Technical College. Superintendent Timothy Hilborn states in the nomination form, “The partnership between Highland High School and Marion Technical College has grown to the point that it is projected that in the 2009-2010 school year approximately 186 students will receive college credits in one of the program offerings. The student-centered approach taken by Marion Technical College is outstanding.”
