Building the Future …
Together

The Ohio Board of Regents recognized MTC’s need to accommodate enrollment increases and awarded the College $3.5 million dollars to construct a new Health Technologies Center. In order to construct and equip the new building, support from the private and corporate sectors is needed.

Through the “Building for the Future … Together” campaign, MTC will realize its goal of providing state-of-the art learning facilities to train health care workers so desperately needed in Marion and the surrounding communities.

It’s nearly impossible to listen to the news without hearing about the national shortage of health care workers. The shortage of registered nurses is especially a concern. The Council on Physician and Nurse Supply estimates that 30,000 additional nurses should be graduated each year to meet the demands for health care workers.

Since 2001, enrollment in MTC’s health programs has doubled with 850 students enrolled in 2008. Over 200 students are enrolled in pre-health waiting to be admitted to the nursing and allied health programs.

MTC prides itself on the quality of its educational programs and the facilities used to train students for the workplace. State-of-the art equipment and laboratories that simulate the work environment are critical to providing the hands-on learning experience needed to train health care workers.

Marion Technical College is a leading supplier of trained health care employees for Marion and the surrounding communities. Students in MTC’s health programs participate in clinical assignments throughout central Ohio at hospitals, surgery centers, nursing homes, laboratories, and other health care facilities. Historically, graduates of MTC’s nursing and allied health programs have performed extremely well on their certification/licensure examinations, exceeding Ohio average pass rates. And, over 94% of MTC’s graduates stay in the community after graduation.

MTC IS EXPANDING ITS HEALTH PROGRAMS TO INCLUDE:
· Health Information Management degree
· Medical Assisting degree
· Pharmacy Technician certificate
· Respiratory Therapy degree
