MTC’s software development programs and certificates are coordinated by Steve Duvall. Steve has worked as a software developer in both the private and public sectors. He holds a Master’s degree in Computer Information Technology with a dual emphasis in Object-Oriented Technologies and Management of Technology from Regis University. In addition, Steve has earned Microsoft certifications in software development, networking, and database technologies. His current certifications include the MCP, MCAD, MCSA, MCTS, MCDBA, MCPD, MCSD, and MCSE. |

Students who successfully earn an associate’s degree in Software Development will: |
- Create software applications using Visual Basic and C# that utilize standard Windows controls, database access, and structured error handling.
- Create ASP.NET Web applications that allow users to create, retrieve, update, and delete data stored in a database.
- Design and implement a database (including triggers, stored procedures, and views) using Microsoft® SQL Server.
- Review material related to Microsoft® MCTS certification exams.

Career Outlook: |
The career outlook for IT Software Development graduates is positive. The Ohio Department of Labor projects an increase of 10 – 20 percent for software development positions, and above a 50% increase for database administrators. National labor projections are also positive. The article America's Top 50 Jobs by Kate Lorenz from CareerPath.com lists several computer-related jobs that have high-wage, high-growth potential. |
