In today’s global economy, administrative professionals are vital to the success of a business. Administrative professionals may interact virtually through electronic communication, audio- and video-conferencing, or face-to-face with customers and associates throughout the world.
Professionals use software applications, technology, and business skills to manage situations in today’s dynamic office. They streamline the collection and reporting of data to assist in making sound business decisions. Using creative problem solving and the willingness to learn and grow assist these professionals in the opportunities they face every day. |

Degree: Associate of Applied Business, Office Information Technologies Option |
Two-year [six quarters] full-time degree schedule; mixture of computer skills courses with studies in business management, marketing, and communications; program can be completed on a part-time basis.

Student Learning Outcomes - What am I expected to learn? |
- Communicate effectively both in writing and orally with co-workers, customers, managers, and end-users.
- Use technologies to evaluate business problems and apply software applications to record, analyze, and present information.
- Demonstrate good work habits, effective interpersonal and teamwork skills, and a high level of professionalism.
- Use manual and electronic record control systems.
- Integrate administrative and technology skills in making business decisions and performing business functions.
- Apply administrative skills to effectively organize and manage work, time, and priorities.
- Prepare for employment in office information career.

Career Outlook |
Nearly 3.5 million individuals work as general secretaries, administrative assistants, technical specialists, and other support areas such as data entry, information management, help desk, and Web production. More than 90 percent of these positions are in service-providing settings, most notably government, education, and health care. Labor data projects a national average increase in the number of office information-related jobs of 5 percent to 8 percent through 2014; Ohio predicts no more than 3 percent growth through 2012.
