- MTC Application for Admission and nonrefundable application fee.
- Final high school transcript [or GED results] and college transcripts [if applicable].
- Successful completion of the Basic Skills Assessment [COMPASS] in reading, writing, and mathematics, algebra.
- Minimum accumulative grade point average [GPA] of 2.5 in high school or college-level coursework [whichever is most recent], is required for program admission. Minimum accumulative grade point average [GPA] of 2.0 is required for program continuation and completion.
- Completed Pharmacy Technician certificate application.
If required, College Foundation Courses are available to help you meet any specialized program admission requirements.
Students accepted to the program will be required to submit to a criminal background check facilitated by Marion Technical College and conducted by The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification. Students with certain felony, misdemeanor, or drug-related arrests as specified in Senate Bill 38 and House Bill 160, will be ineligible for admission into the program.
Pharmacy student background checks will also include review of the GSA (U. S. General Services Administration), EPLS (Excluded Parties Listing System), aw well as the LEIE (Office of Inspector Generals List of Excluded Individuals/Entities) database. Pharmacy students currently active on those databases may be ineligible for admission/continuation in the program as well as future employment.
Accepted students will also be required to submit to a drug screening prior to their practicum experience. Positive drug screenings will result in forfeiture of the practicum. All Medical Sciences students may be subject to random drug screens for cause during the program. Any student who refuses/fails to cooperate, or complete any required drug screening will be considered "positive" and dismissed from the program.
Additional requirements for entrance into the Pharmacy Technician Practicum include:
- completion of medical physical
- testing for infectious diseases and updated immunizations
- purchase of liability insurance
Practicum sites may require:
- random drug testing
- HIV testing, if exposed to blood-borne pathogen
- submission to treatment, counseling, if exposed to infectious diseases
- criminal background check
