To apply for acceptance into the Medical Sciences program of Medical Office Administration, your application file should contain:
- MTC Application for Admission and nonrefundable application fee.
- Final high school transcript [or GED results] and college transcripts [if applicable].
- Successful completion of the Basic Skills Assessment [COMPASS] in reading, writing, and mathematics pre-algebra.
- Minimum accumulative grade point average [GPA] of 2.5 in high school or college-level coursework [whichever is most recent], is required for program admission. Minimum accumulative grade point average [GPA] of 2.0 is required for program continuation and completion.
- Completed Medical Office Administration Program application.
Additional requirements for entrance into the Medical Office Administration Practicum course [MS225] include:
- completion of medical physical
- testing for infectious diseases and updated immunizations
- purchase of liability insurance
- criminal background check (see paragraph below)
Clinical/Practicum sites may require:
- random drug testing
- HIV testing, if exposed to blood-borne pathogen
- submission to treatment/counseling, if exposed to infectious diseases
- criminal background check
If required, College Foundation Courses are available to help you meet any specialized program admission requirements.
Students accepted to the program will be required to submit to a criminal background check facilitated by Marion Technical College and conducted by The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification. Students with certain felony, misdemeanor, or drug-related arrests as specified in Senate Bill 38 and House Bill 160, will be ineligible for admission into the program.
