Electric Power Utility Technician Certificate |
|
The Electric Power Utilities Program was developed at Marion Technical
College in conjunction with the Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives [OREC].
This curriculum [two short-term certificates that can be combined into one
technical certificate] prepares individuals to work as line workers in the
preparation and repair of rural electrical utility services. |
| Career Opportunities: |
In 2004, approximately 104,000 individuals worked in the U.S. as utility linemen, maintenance specialists, and repair technicians. National labor data projects a modest growth trend [no more than 8 percent] in this field through the year 2014.
Ohio predicts a similar trend [near 8 percent] for all installation and repair fields
through 2012. |
