Real Estate Management Option
Program Curriculum
Real Estate Salespersons help people realize the dream of owning a home and play an important role in the development of local communities. MTC’s Business Management, Real Estate Management option prepares individuals to work with a variety of publics, including buyers and sellers, property managers, tax and title professionals, government agencies, and construction and inspection officials. Graduates of this program can utilize business planning and forecasting tools, research community and regional real estate statutes, analyze market trends, and interface with industry-specific databases and property listing systems. Graduates demonstrate outstanding personal sales and presentation skills.

As a part of earning an Associate of Applied Business Degree in Business Management, Real Estate Management Option, you will be eligible to become a licensed Real Estate Salesperson or a licensed Real Estate Broker. These credentials require completing required coursework, meeting contact-hour requirements, and passing the appropriate exam.
These courses and the equivalent of 2-years (90 - 100 quarter credit hours) of post secondary education are required for any salesperson, licensed after January 3, 1984, who wants to take the Broker’s Examination.
Students who successfully earn an associate degree in Business Management, Real Estate Management Option will….
- Be prepared to take the Ohio Real Estate Salesperson License Exam
- Learn the skills required to become an effective real-estate salesperson or broker
- Learn to use technology to develop a project or marketing plan
- Use problem-solving methods to evaluate ethical dilemmas, customer concerns, and business problems
- Learn the skills needed to effectively communicate with a diverse community
- Learn to develop a marketing plan and a public relations plan
Career Outlook
Real estate professionals are finding strong opportunities in both urban centers and small communities. In 2004, about 460,000 professionals were employed as real estate brokers and sales agents in the United States. Job projections for Ohio indicate a 2.8% growth for real estate brokers, an 8.8% increase for real-estate sales agents, and a 16% increase for property managers through 2012.
