Real Estate Sales Certificate
Program Curriculum pdf | Course Schedule pdf

The MTC Real Estate Sales Certificate offers an accelerated way for working adults to fit college into their busy lives. By attending class two evenings per week, students can earn a Real Estate Sales Certificate in just 15 weeks.

Real estate salespersons help people realize the dream of owning a home, and play an important role in the development of local communities. MTC’s Real Estate Sales certificate offers individuals a fast-track to a real-estate career. Students who earn a certificate will learn to work with a variety of people, including buyers and sellers, property managers, tax and title professionals, government agencies, and construction and inspection officials.

The Real Estate Sales Certificate prepares you to take the state licensed real estate salesperson exam. In order to earn this credential, the State of Ohio requires completing required coursework, meeting contact-hour requirements, and passing the appropriate exam.

Students who successfully earn an associate’s degree will learn to….
  • be prepared to take the Ohio Real Estate Salesperson License Exam
  • demonstrate knowledge of the issues and environmental factors involved in making real estate decisions
  • apply the three methods of legal descriptions to specific problems
  • quote the formulas for the gross rent multiplier and the gross income multiplier
  • outline the appraisal process
  • compare and contrast tenancy in common and joint tenancy with the right of survivorship
  • demonstrate the use of the steps in the sales process and prepare an effective sales presentation
  • identify and describe the various types of contracts associated with the sale of real estate
  • differentiate among the financing relationships of collateralization, hypothecation, and leveraging
  • calculate various interest amounts and corresponding payments involved in a real estate loan
  • learn the skills required to become an effective real estate salesperson or broker

Career Outlook:

Nationally, opportunities in this diverse field are expected to increase as much as 26 percent through 2014; positions in Ohio are also expected to increase through the year 2012 in such areas as human resources assistants (15.2 percent), training specialists (22.3 percent), job analysts (24.9 percent), recruiters (18.2 percent), payroll clerks (1.1 percent), and H.R. managers (13.5 percent).

What will it take to succeed?:

To be successful, you must make a personal commitment to attend all classes, work independently between class sessions, and complete all assignments in a timely manner.
