WHY MTC

In Ohio, over ½ of all students begin college at a two-year campus saving them thousands of dollars on their education. Marion Technical College enrolls over 2,000 students and is part of the State’s public college system.

Average Salary GraphQuality Education with a Personal Touch:
It is our mission to help you succeed. MTC faculty are “teachers” first and offer “real life” learning experiences with classroom, high tech lab and co-op education options. We offer a personalized approach so that you are at the “center of learning”. In 2008, MTC introduced a college-wide technology system stressing “personalized self service” and helping students find better service “on-line, instead of in-line".

Career Preparation: Employment for Ohio associate degree graduates is expected to grow by 18.8% over the next decade, leading all education categories. MTC graduates are employed in major-related career field at rate of nearly 90%. In addition, an MTC education means graduates have outstanding income potential - well above the average in Ohio.

Average Tuition GraphExcellent Value:
Tuition per year at Ohio community and technical colleges averaged $3,366. This is compared to an average tuition of $8,888 for students at Ohio public university main campuses.

The tuition costs at private colleges and universities in Ohio are much higher. The cost of Tuition and Fees at Marion Technical College put an education within reach for every student.

Financial assistance: At MTC, we understand that financing a college education can be a stressful undertaking. That’s why we offer Financial Aid opportunities to all of our students. In fact, nearly 80% of our students received financial aid last year, including grants (money you don’t need to pay back) and loans (money you borrow). MTC also offers a variety of academic Scholarships each year for traditional age and adult learners.

Transfer Options:Marion Technical College is nationally accredited by the High Learning Commission and has numerous transfer opportunities and agreements. As a state college, MTC offers many course options that are guaranteed to transfer to other colleges and universities. For the first time this year, MTC will offer university transfer degree programs offering up to two full years of transfer credit.

Policy for Admission to MTC:
Marion Technical College has an "open door" admission policy. If you are a high school graduate or have successfully completed the General Education Development (GED) test, then you are eligible for admission to the College as a General Admission Student.
If you are not a high school graduate and have not taken the GED, you may still be eligible for admission as a Post-Secondary/Concurrent Enrollment Student or as a Special Student. Please read through the Future Student section and Five Easy Steps for Admission.

When to Apply:
Although the college has an "open door" admission policy, certain academic programs are limited in enrollment and therefore selective for those that enter the “program sequence courses”. You should submit the MTC for Application for Admission to the MTC Office of Admission at least three months prior to your intended starting date. It is especially important, if you need financial assistance, to apply early for financial aid. Please view the Selective Admission Programs to find out which programs have the specific admission requirements.
