Officially charted by the Ohio Board of Regents as the Marion County Technical Institute. Offices established on the Marion Campus with The Ohio State University at Marion. |

Began offering classes in the fall with 187 students enrolled in 4 degree programs |
| 1972 |
Name changed to Marion Technical College by the Ohio Legislature. MTC’s first graduating class graduates. |
1973 |
Held first formal commencement ceremony for 42 graduates. |

MTC expands academic programs with the opening of the Technical Education Center. After only five years of offering classes, enrollment surpasses OSUM and reaches 799 students. |
| 1977 |
MTC is granted initial three-year accreditation by NCA. MTC’s registered nursing associate degree program becomes one of only three Ohio programs to receive National League for Nursing accreditation. |
| 1980 |
MTC receives full accreditation status by the North Central Association. |

The Marion Campus Student Center opens, expanding student activities and athletics for MTC students. |
| 1988 |
Marion Technical College Foundation, Inc. is created and begins first campaign to raise funds for student scholarships. |
| 1989 |
MTC begins offering Post-Secondary Enrollment Option courses for qualifying high school juniors and seniors. |
| 1991 |
MTC offers 30+ one-year certificates and two-year associate degree programs and hundreds of individual courses. |
| 1992 |
Groundbreaking occurs for the Technical Education Center Annex. |
| 1997 |
The $7.2 million Marion Campus Library/Classroom building is completed. |
| 1998 |
MTC offers first online class. |
| 2001 |
MTC celebrated its 30th anniversary!
Marion General Hospital’s Radiography program moves to Marion Technical College. |
| 2003 |
Fall enrollment broke all previous records with 2,121 headcount. |
| 2004 |
MTC enrollment continued to break records with a headcount of 2,237 students. Growth forces College to lease space adjacent to Campus to house the MTC’s Center for Workforce Development. |
| 2006 |
A record 284 graduates received an associate degree or certificate at MTC’s commencement activities, including 4 Highland High School students who completed the MTC telecommunications academy and graduated from high school and MTC within the same week! |
